As I’m writing this, Small Business Saturday is a week away. The expectation this year, if you listen to the National Federation of Independent Businesses and American Express, is that more consumers are aware of the shopping day this year (58 percent as compared with 55 percent in 2015), and more plan to show up—62 percent who know about Small Business Saturday plan to shop small that day, according to the survey.
