Home Accents Today Retail Store Operations Survey

Business is looking up! 2011 sales were higher than 2010, according to six out of 10 retailers responding to Home Accents Today exclusive 2012 Store Operations Survey. And, nearly eight out of 10 home accent stores predict 2012 sales will be higher than last year. 2011 total revenues increased by a median of 12% and this year's optimistic retailers expect sales to increase by a median of 10%.
Other data presented in the exclusive survey includes: average sales per square foot of selling space, close ratios, sales per square foot of selling space, Total number of hours store is open per week, percentage of sales by day, number of employees, revenue sources, expense allocations, merchandise mix as a percentage of space and total sales, best-selling price points by product, number of lines carried by product, advertising methods, website information, social media, mobile technology and sourcing issues.
During April and May, Home Accents Today surveyed home accent retailers about store operations, including merchandise mix, revenue and expense allocations, advertising, websites, social media, sourcing and mobile technology. The assortment of retailers answering the survey includes home accent stores, gift stores, full-line furniture stores and interior designers. Responding retailers represent 100 stores.
