NRF Offers Retailers Advice on Disaster Preparedness

WASHINGTON - The National Retail Federation Loss Prevention compiled guidelines and tips from government agencies to help large retailers and small businesses design efficient disaster preparation and response strategies.
The site features resources for retailers looking to aid or find help in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, as well as registration for up-to-date trade and travel alerts.
A list of disaster preparedness resources offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help retailers prepare and protect their businesses. The listing includes steps that business owners can take after a disaster strikes with links to the following resources: Protecting Your Business, Voluntary Private Sector Preparedness Guidelines, a Basic Disaster Supplies Kit, what to do if your business was damaged, disaster assistance FAQs, finding a disaster recovery center, Disaster Asssitance.gov: Community Resources and Learn about the Community Emergency Response Team Program (CERT).
Ready.gov also offers up tips to prepare an "all hazards approach" to disaster management, including program management, planning, implementation, testing and exercises and program improvement.
