Brooklyn, OH – Greeting card manufacturer American Greetings made this year's holiday card for President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama. The card features a gold foil-embossed presidential seal surrounded by a wreath, and a thin burgundy border around the edges. It contains the message: "May your family have a joyous holiday season and a new year blessed with hope and happiness."
American Greetings also produced the vice presidential greeting card, which bears a photo of the Biden family on the front and the vice presidential seal inside. The message reads "Wishing you and your family joy and peace this holiday season."
The cards were produced at the company's facility in Ripley, TN, and Bardstown, KY, on card stock chosen by the White House.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the cards were paid for by the Democratic National Committee. A DNC spokesman declined to say how many cards were sent or how much they cost. The last time American Greetings produced the White House holiday cards was during the Clinton administration.
You may not be able to get Christmas cards but kids can still get greetings signed by the president on the occasion of an Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scout Gold Award

Years ago, one could receive a White House Christmas card by mailing the White House one. When did this practice change? I mailed 4 cards for my 4 grandchildren thinking they would receive one in return. They are ages 2 thru 5. Having 3 girls out of the 4 grandchildren, I showed them pictures of Melia and Sasha and read them stories about how they enjoy living in the White House.
I feel like like I have let them down by telling them to expect a card in return.
