The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, held July 11–18, was busy with happy vendors who reported double and triple sales compared with last year’s market. Some even reported dramatic increases in business over the winter market. AmericasMart was pleased with this summer’s show saying this market was strong overall. “Our July market proved very strong across all measures: buying and selling, product mix and registered traffic. Consistent order-writing plus healthy traffic gains kept market momentum strong start to stop. And our summer product line-up has never been better with many new exhibitors enjoying successful first showings,” said Jeffrey Portman, president of AMC Inc., parent company of AmericasMart Atlanta.
And there was plenty for buyers to choose from. Many vendors offered up new collections, as well as many line extensions. There were also a number of trends spotted, many a continuation from the Dallas market, including black and white, metallic tones and butterflies.
New to this market were roosters, which seem hot again after a few years in the coop. Quite a few manufacturers offered accessories in mercury glass, and the color brown appeared to be on the rise either solo or coupled with yellow and gold tones. There were plenty of fun new accessories and gifts as well, including sculptures made with old bicycle seats from Eastern Breeze, candles that burn with colored flames by Gloco Accents, Lego-shaped iPod speakers from The Sarut Group and vases made from real snakeskin at Zodax.
In addition, market-goers were treated to a few celebrity appearances: actress Jane Seymour was on hand to introduce her new home collection with Vintage Verandah, and Captain Planet helped open the new Green Product Showcase at AmericasMart.

Also carrying over from Dallas were metallic tones — mainly bronze and copper. They were used on pillows, vases and giftware. Roman used copper and bronze on a collection of new angels, and The Pomeroy Collection dedicated an entire assortment to the metallic hues. At Burton + Burton, bronze and copper were combined with blue. More >>
