Nashville, TN — Inspirational book publisher Thomas Nelson laid off 54 employees, or about 10 percent of the company’s workforce, effective Friday, December 5. Thomas Nelson president and CEO Michael Hyatt released the news on his blog. The layoffs “will affect nearly every department in our company,” Hyatt said, adding that this was the second round of layoffs for Nelson this year. While the first round followed a drop in SKUs, said Hyatt, “this second round was purely a result of the slowdown in the economy.”
