WWRD Holdings Names Officers

Waterford Wedgwood USA in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

London and New York — WWRD Holdings Ltd., the group which owns and operates Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton, recently named the senior executives who will manage the company under the leadership of Pierre de Villeméjane as CEO. The company named Anthony Jones as executive vice president and CFO. He will be responsible for finance, accounting, strategy, change management, IT, HR and legal. Executive vice president of sales and marketing, Moira Gavin will head marketing, design, sales and customer service. The company has also appointed Ralf Kuhn to executive vice president of operations. Kuhn will be in charge of manufacturing, outsourcing, warehousing, planning, quality and health and safety. In addition, three regional group vice presidents have also been appointed. Lou Scala in the Americas, Martin Devaney in Europe and the Middle East and Jim Harding in Asia.

In March of this year, WWRD Holdings acquired from the bankruptcy administrators of Waterford Wedgwood plc certain of the company’s assets including the renowned brands Waterford, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Royal Albert, Minton and Johnson Brothers, as well as a number licensing arrangements.

As part of the wind-down of its legal entities, Waterford Wedgwood plc filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition on April 23 for its U.S. arm, Waterford Wedgwood USA and related companies, including Royal Douton USA. The petition, filed in the federal bankruptcy court in Manhattan, lists outstanding debts for Waterford Wedgwood USA at somewhere between $500 million–$1 billion. A number of recognized gift industry names are listed among the creditors, including Gifts & Decorative Accessories’ parent company, Reed Business Information. A court-appointed trustee is overseeing the dissolution of the business and an S341 meeting of the debtors is scheduled to be held on June 3 in the Southern District of  New York.
