• The U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey shows that one-fifth of U.S. households earned $100,000 or more in 2008. The number of affluent households has increased 9.9 percent between 1998 and 2008.
• More than 40 percent of all 21–44 year old men in the U.S., and 37 percent of women the same age, are Hispanic, according to Hispanic Marketing: Addressing Acculturation. Today’s 47 million U.S. Hispanics account for almost $1 trillion in buying power, and are on track to more than triple in number by 2050.
• Some 45 percent of consumers believe they find the best deals online, compared to 34 percent who say the best deals are in-store, according to Performics.
• Some 59 percent of Americans buy luxury items secondhand, reports Synovate.
• Some 45 percent of shoppers trust the label “organic,” compared to 33 percent who trust the label “natural,” notes Mintel.
