Boston Gift Show to Have Largest Handmade Division to Date

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 2/23/2007 11:13:00 AM

White Plains, NY — The Boston Gift Show will present nearly 40 new exhibitors in the Handmade division at its next edition, set to take place March 24-27 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. This show’s Handmade division is the largest in the show’s 79-year history, according to show management, and will present some 90 exhibitors.

“The Boston Gift Show has developed a solid reputation as a market with great value for exhibitors and attendees alike, and we attribute the growth of our Handmade division to this positive word-of-mouth among the craft community,” said GLM’s Tony Orlando, show manager. “We’re excited to present attendees with a broader scope of handcrafted products that are unique to the New England region.”

Exhibitors who apply to show in the Handmade division are selected on the basis of originality, authenticity and the appropriateness of their product for the gift market. Selected artisans and designers represent collections of ethnic, traditional and contemporary crafted merchandise, including functional and decorative home accents, glassware, metal, ceramics, jewelry and textiles, plus an array of other craft objects.

New exhibitors within the Handmade division include Butterfly Artworks (tropical butterfly shadowboxes), Chiossone & Co. (jewelry made from exotic wood), Crafty Baby (baby and toddler items), Jlynne Designs (hand-painted silk jewelry), P.M. Dolls & Leger Collection (ornaments and tiles), Pane in the Glass Studio (jewelry and accessories), Smell the Soap (handmade soaps), Spotted Dog Jewelry Design (semi-precious, freshwater and vintage jewelry collections), Sue Rioux Designs (kaleidoscopes and jewelry) and Wayfarer Candle Company (hand-poured candles).

In addition to the Handmade division, the Boston Gift Show features nearly 500 other exhibitors in six other divisions: At Home, General Gift, Made in New England, Personal Accessories, Souvenir Source and The Museum Source.
