The Christian Booksellers Assn. is moving from a president and CEO model to an executive director model. Curtis Riskey was appointed to the position. CBA is the owner of the Intl. Christian Retail Show, which is scheduled June 27–30 at America’s Center in St. Louis. Riskey has served at interim executive director since Nov. 1, and joined CBA in October 2007 as strategic solutions executive. Riskey worked for Maytag Appliances for 10 years before leaving the company in 2000 to open a Christian retail store in Oshkosh, WI. Before joining the CBA staff, Riskey participated in the association by serving on the Independent Retail Advisory Council, was a regular columnist in CBA’s magazine and taught curriculum within the “Professional Christian Retailer Certification” training.
Patience Brewster Inc. named Rebecca Dalton as vice president of global aales. Dalton joined Patience Brewster Inc. in 2005 and served as the director of sales during the start up of Brewster’s new artist-based company. Dalton previously held the position of specialty sales district manager at Pfizer Ophthalmology as well as district sales manager at TAP Pharmaceuticals.
The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Assn. (IFDA) announced its new slate of officers and board members for 2010. Su Hilty, vice president of marketing for 7 W New York, was named president of the organization; Wendy Silverstein, public relations consultant, president-elect; Penny Sikalis of GLM LLC, past president; Linda Kulla of Bardwil Industries, treasurer and Susan Slotkis, interior designer/teacher, secretary. The new board of directors includes Christine Abbate and Melabee Miller, publications; Leyna Chiang and Olivia Spadafore, student liasons for education; Claire Coleman, director-at -large; Rose Gilbert, membership; Cathy Guterman, public relations; Maureen Klein, communications; Hermine Mariaux, future directions; Sandra Maitland, financial resources; Betsy Nichol, awards & recognition; Florence Perchuk and Michelle Slovak, seasonal events and Claudia Tejeda, special events.
Fan manufacturer Fanimation president Nathan Frampton appointed Jay Boughner to the newly created position of controller. Boughner will oversee the financial departments, including: accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and work closely with the customer service and order entry departments. Prior to joining Fanimation, he served as vice president finance and corporate controller for Long Electric Company, and supervisor of finance for Education Financial Services/
The Grandoe Corp. appointed Bruce Chayet as vice president of sales for its Comfort Footwear Division. Chayet will be responsible for growing Grandoe’s Smartdogs and Hush Puppies branded comfort slipper businesses. He will direct and manage its national sales team and personally work with major accounts as well as key influential independent retailers. Prior to joining Grandoe, he served as national sales director for Anyi Lu Intl., launched Chayet Intl. to import and distribute Arcus of France, and was president of the U.S. division of Rieker Shoe Corporation.
