Joseph Otranto, founder of Empire Silver Co. |
Brooklyn, NY — Joseph Otranto, founder of Empire Silver Co., passed away recently at the age of 80.
Although leadership of the company passed to his son Dennis and his son-in-law Vinny Mongelli, Otranto remained active in company operations and never fully retired from the company he founded in 1946.
“Joe was an inspiration to all who knew him. In 2006, we had a double reason to celebrate at Empire Silver: the company turned 60 and our esteemed founder and president turned 80,” said Mongelli, vice president of sales.
Otranto is survived by his son Dennis, daughters Maria and Linda, three sisters, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His granddaughter Nicole Mongelli preceded him in death.
