Tabletop

The Tabletop industry is holding steady. At this past October's New York Tabletop Market Week held at 41 Madison/The New York Merchandise Mart and 7W New York, it was noticeable that many vendors offered modest introductions.
Many seemed to be playing it safe design-wise and with fewer new lines and mainly line extensions. While the fall market does tend to be a little slower in terms of product, it was still telling in these tough economic times that some chose to hold back a little more. Although, on the positive side, there were manufacturers who offered retailers a significant product line to choose from. Although vendors weren't taking too many risks, in times like these it is important to keep a positive outlook and forge ahead.
There were few major trends spotted, but something that was noticeable was the amount of blue found on the table. Many manufacturers turned to soft shades of blue. And dinnerware patterns tended to be more traditional, with some turning to nature motifs and softer taupe tones, another popular hue.
