Get the Trends at Frankfurt’s Decorate Life
Frankfurt, Germany — The new Decorate Life combined show will run July 4–8, at Messe Frankfurt, Germany. Together the five-event show, comprised of Tendence Autumn + Winter, Collectione Preview Spring + Summer, Young Living, Outdoor Living and The Design Annual, will present a significant range of lifestyle merchandise and home accessories, gifts, tabletop and housewares, and an increased selection of outdoor and indoor furniture, textiles and lighting. One of the highlights of Decorate Life’s Tendence Autumn + Winter divison will be Carat, a showcase of jewelry designers.

According to show management, Tendence is positioned to boost buying for "that all-important fourth-quarter retail season. Giftwares at Tendence will include styles that span from classic to trendy, amusing and luxurious." In addition, there will be a segment spotlighting one-of-a-kind items, limited edition and collectors’ pieces from such notable companies as Enesco, Peter Priess and others. The Young & Trendy and the Kidsworld sections will feature the latest products for the young and the young-at-heart, and will feature exhibitors such as Käthe Kruse, Folkmanis and Petit Jour.

Part of the Carat jewelry division will highlight the work of 20 up-and-coming designers "showing the kinds of jewelry the trend-conscious will be wearing to accessorize their outfits. And the German Craft Association will make a strong showing of handcrafted products," according to show management. For the big box volume buyers, the Collectione section offers quantities of gifts, toys, games, paper products and more. New products displayed on “trend tables” will provide creative inspiration and merchandising ideas to take back to the store. Click here for additional show information.

Tokyo Gift Show to Feature 2,400 Exhibitors
Tokyo, Japan — The Toyko Gift Show (TIGS), scheduled for September 2–5 at the Tokyo Big Site, will have more than 2.400 exhibiting companies filling 4,200 booths with the latest new products and fashions, according to show management.

A featured exhibit group will be the Asian Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF), a 21-member organization that promotes trade in the Asian Region. To make it easier for attendees to source products, the fair is divided into 28 product category sections including Kids Stuff with a special baby and kids corner, stationery and paper, home furnishings and decorative goods, apparel, pet goods and more.

The Modern Japanese Style Corner showcases goods made using traditional technologies or designs and ideas that include a Japanese element. On Thursday, September 4, attendees can network and socialize at the Social Evening Party. Click here for additional show information or to register for the show.

Glee Offers Tours of UK Garden Centers

Birmingham, UK — North American buyers planning to attend GLEE, the annual buying event for garden, pet and outdoor leisure, September 18–23, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK, will have the opportunity to tour leading UK garden centers, in addition to a focused group buying trip to Glee.

The Pre-Glee Merchandising Tour, September 18–20, will be led by Ian Baldwin and his wife Lisa, who organize and lead the English Garden Center Tours. They will take retailers on a three-day tour of nine state-of-the-art garden centers to see what and how the British are selling and merchandising. Garden centers on the tour include Webbs of Wychbold, Bent’s (both voted “Britain’s Best Garden Center”), Wyevale/Blooms GC, and Trentham Gardens, known as a leader in garden and lifestyle merchandising in Britain. Participants will get an inside look at these operations to see what the British are buying and selling, learn hands-on financial information and meet with the managers/owners.

Retailers will also be treated to a guided tour of the show’s sections to meet with vendors, and learn how to shop and ship. Special networking dinners will occur nightly for buyers to network and share ideas. For more information on the retail tour, pricing and reservations, interested retailers should contact Ian Baldwin or call him at (916) 682-1069. For general information on Glee, visit the website or call (609) 921-0222.
