White Plains, NY — When the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) opens for its August 16–21 run in New York City, it will reflect an element of growth and refinement across all of its divisions, most notably an expansion of “A+: The Young Designer's Platform” within Accent on Design; more of an emphasis on designer-makers in Handmade, and a growing presence of luxury lines in several divisions. The fair’s nine divisions will be set up exhibits in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Metropolitan Pavilion and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 & 94.
“Our continuing refinements and enhancements to each of the Fair’s nine divisions will more clearly define the Fair’s vertical product categories, while also improving ease-of-use for retailers shopping broadly for complementary product.” said Dorothy Belshaw, GLM senior vice president and NYIGF director.
Highlights of the refinements being made to the show include:
• Handmade showcasing authentic craft by spotlighting individual artisans or designer-maker to help distinguish them from the production craft exhibitors.
• A showcase of “Handmade in the USA” exhibitors.
• Expanded “A+” program for emerging designers in the Accent on Design division presenting designs, prototypes or finished products from design students, recent graduates and new companies in an “incubator” space.
• STUDIO, showcasing trend and fashion-driven, innovative and inspired merchandise across all
