Atlanta to Present Program by Interior Designer Alexa Hampton 
     Atlanta —AmericasMart Atlanta’s next Market Wednesday between-Market buyer enrichment program is scheduled for April 2. This program, characterized by exclusive presentations, showroom specials and promotions, will be headlined on April 2 by Alexa Hampton, celebrity interior designer and senior design consultant to PBS’s This Old House. She will be joined by a panel of industry notables, including interior designer Mark Habachy. Events begin at 10 a.m. in AmericasMart 1, floor 4, 4B1 with a panel discussion and area rug showcase, followed by a complimentary luncheon.

Martha Stewart to Speak At High Point; Trend Center Debuts
     High Point, NC —Martha Stewart will make a special appearance at the High Point Market on Tuesday, April 8. Stewart will take the stage at the High Point Theatre on Tuesday evening, April 8, at 7 p.m. to discuss home decorating and her design inspirations with interior designer Stephen Sills. Her appearance is a special event sponsored by the International Home Furnishings Center (IHFC), in cooperation with the High Point Market Authority.      In other news, The Top Floor of the Suites at Market Square will be home to a new trend center launching at the upcoming market, April 7-13.  “Amazed” is designed as a maze of distinct rooms, each providing a different experience for the visitor. It is intended as a display of thought-provoking ideas designed to inspire designers, retailers and manufacturers to rethink and rejuvenate their business. The “Amazed” trend center will be a regular feature at future High Point Markets, but content of the area will change each market.

Gourmet Housewares Moves Back to Vegas With Eco-friendly Flare 
      New York, NY — The Gourmet Housewares Show, produced by George Little Management (GLM), returns to Las Vegas this year and is set to run May 6–8 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. The event, a showcase of high-end and design-driven gourmet products, will be co-located with GLM’s Global Home Textiles and Global Home Décor shows, and with the National Hardware Show, which is produced by Reed Exhibitions at the Las Vegas Convention Ctr..
      This year, there will be an eco-friendly flare to the show with the addition of the Gourmet Golds “Green Award,” which recognize products that meet certain “green standards” and are judged by a panel of trade and consumer press. Awards will be presented in six categories: Cookware/Bakeware; Kitchen Electrics; Gadgets, Cutlery and Accessories; Gourmet Gifts and Specialty Food; and Tabletop and Textiles. Exhibitors will also be permitted to display a “Green by Design” sign if they meet a minimum of 3 out of 12 criteria as outlined by GHS organizers. The criteria include: use of recycled materials in making of product; energy efficient products; wood from sustainable forests or use of rediscovered woods or FSC certified wood; companies that have enforced a reclamation policy; certification by a regional, national or international organization; philanthropic endeavors—manufacturers who support specific not-for-profit activities.
      The Gourmet Housewares Show will feature an active slate of special events, celebrity chef demonstrations and programming that kicks off with an opening night gala, Monday, May 6, at Treasure Island’s newest nightclub. During the gala, Todd English will be honored with the “Share our Strength” Humanitarian Award. English will also demonstrate his culinary talents at the show’s Culinary Center during the day on Monday, May 6.
      Programming at the show is designed to meet the growing needs of small business retailers and provide them with the most up to date and relevant information on the business of doing business. To maintain show fluidity and to allow retailers valuable time on the show floor, the discussions will be held within the Culinary Center on each day of the show with lunch being served. This new “Gourmet Symposium: Quick Bites For Your Business”  will consist of panel discussions focusing on a variety of relevant topics, including sustainability, shipping, and insurance, and employee benefits.

Global Home Market Offers Sourcing Education To Importers
      White Plains, NY — The Global Home Market, comprised of Global Home Textiles and Global Home Décor, will present a conference program, during the May 6–8 run at the Sands Expo & Convention Center, Las Vegas NV.
       A pre-show webinar for overseas manufacturers and trade representatives will address how to succeed in the U.S. home products marketplace. The webinar will discuss a variety of issues critical to overseas companies exhibiting at the shows, including working with U.S. companies, cross-cultural business etiquette and channels of distribution.
      The Global Home Textiles and Global Home Décor Conference Program, presented by GLM NEXCO, will consist of four seminars, plus a series of five ‘Country Spotlights,’ addressing sourcing-related topics in the global home furnishings business. Sessions will address key sourcing issues including current government regulations, quotas, free trade agreements, compliance considerations and mandates, plus best practices in selecting and working with offshore suppliers. All sessions will take place in the Conference Forum within the exhibit hall, and are open to all market participants.
     Country Spotlight sessions will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, and are complimentary; trade representatives from Egypt, Italy, Pakistan, China and India will make informative presentations.
      The four in-depth, 90-minute, NEXCO-produced sessions will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, May 7-8, and are $75 per session in advance, and $85 per session onsite. A full Conference Package is available for $250 in advance (savings of $50) and $300 onsite (savings of $40). Hardware Show Offers More Than Tools
      Las Vegas — The National Hardware Show returns to Las Vegas, May 6-8, and will occupy the entire Las Vegas Convention Center. The show offers home channel retailers of all sizes, including independent and specialty stores, a comprehensive presentation of products for home and garden.
      This year, the National Hardware Show will add new programs, while expanding on existing ones to reflect current consumer trends.
