Washington, DC — The Consumer Product Safety Commission and retailer Seventh Avenue are recalling about 430 wire formed tealight candleholders with ball feet, which hold up to five tealights. The sides have small and large round resin accents in amber and red. The candleholders were imported from China by Berkeley Designs, of Hawthorne, CA. Seventh Avenue received one report of the resin accents igniting, resulting in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. The holders were sold via Seventh Avenue’s spring 2008 catalogs and online from February–October 2008 for about $10. All known users have been contacted. Consumers should immediately stop using the candleholder and return it to Seventh Avenue for a full refund or store credit, and a $10 coupon.
Also voluntarily recalled are about 210,000 Havaianas brand children’s flip flops made in Brazil from Alpargatas USA Inc., New York. Decorative paint on the sole of the flip-flops can contain levels of lead in excess of the federal standard. No incidents or injuries have been reported, and Havaianas flip-flops without decorative paint are not being recalled. The flip-flops were sold by department and specialty stores nationwide from November 2006 through February 2009 for about $15 to $24 a pair. Consumers should immediately take the recalled flip-flops away from children and return them to Alpargatas USA, Inc. to receive a replacement.
