By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 12/11/2008 11:05:00 AM

New York— Angelica Berrie, former CEO, vice chair (and founder’s widow) of gift and juvenile vendor Russ Berrie & Co., is now the new CEO and owner of stationery boutique Kate’s Paperie in New York City. Berrie is also currently president of the Russell Berrie Foundation and owns a majority stake in gift company Boston International.

Berrie is relaunching Kate’s Paperie this month, and plans to unveil new store designs and an updated website soon. Berrie is also arranging strategic partnerships with well-known fashion and design figures to create eponymous collections exclusive to Kate’s Paperie and launching a new gift card program.

Kate’s flagship Spring Street store is the first location to be redesigned; the other four stores will unveil this new look in 2009. The store’s new look began with window installations by sculptural artist Zoe Bradley. Bradley largest U.S. installation to date, “Hanging Japanese Gardens,” made of Yuzen papers. Berrie plans to regularly commission artists to use Kate’s Paperie’s store windows as canvases.

Kate’s Paperie, in partnership with the Angelica Berrie Foundation, is also a sponsor of the 2009 exhibit SLASH— Paper Under the Knife at the Museum of Art and Design.
