People on the Move: February 5

George Whitney, senior vice president of merchandising, left casual home retail chain Cost Plus Inc. Marilyn Incerty was promoted to vice president of home and trend development. Incerty joined Cost Plus in March 2007 as director of merchandising. She previously held divisional level positions at Pottery Barn, Levi Strauss, and Gymboree. Jeff Turner was promoted to executive vice president of operations and chief information officer, and Laura Sites-Reynolds was promoted to senior vice president of inventory management. Turner joined Cost Plus in September 2007 as senior vice president, chief information officer, a title he previously held at Restoration Hardware. Sites-Reynolds joined Cost Plus in March 2006 as vice president of inventory management. She previously served as vice president of inventory management and supply chain for Design Within Reach.

Hidden City Games Inc., publisher and worldwide licensor of Bella Sara, appointed Dominick Magliaro as vice president of sales for North America. Magliaro previously served as the vice president of hobby sales for Upper Deck. Magliaro’s initial priorities will be to increase sales in existing accounts, identify additional distribution channels, develop new prospects and grow sales. Hidden City also appointed Sharon M. Bennett as licensing consultant for North America. She previously served as senior vice president of global licensing and strategic partnerships at Discovery Communications. Bennett also served as senior vice president of licensing and merchandising for Saban Consumer Products where she oversaw all North American licensing activities for Fox Family Channel and Fox Kids Network.

Family entertainment producer and distributor Chorion expanded its licensing team with the appointment of Lauren LaBumbard as director, retail development. She will be responsible for expanding the presence of Chorion’s properties including OLIVIA, Mr. Men and Little Miss, Paddington Bear, Beatrix Potter and The World of Eric Carle at key U.S. retailers through developing relationships and promotional opportunities with retail buyers and management. Prior to joining Chorion, Lauren has worked in retail development roles for companies including VIZ Media, Signatures Network and 4Kids Entertainment. 

Mary Lin joined Griddly Games Inc. as director of operations. Lin will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Griddly Games internal departments and implement procedures to deliver the best productivity for the company's cornerstone Griddly Headz sport-themed games as well as the company's new Chronicles of the Mind and Words of the Wise brain games.

Chris Casson Madden was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Madden will serve until June 30, 2015. Amsale Aberra and Robert Savage also were sworn in as new Board of Trustee members. Madden attended FIT on a scholarship, according to Edwin Goodman, chairman of the board, and has since “built one of the country’s top home furnishings businesses.” She is founder and CEO of Chris Madden Inc., as well as hosting her own show on Home and Garden television for eight seasons; had her own magazine, At Home with Chris Madden, and writing 17 books.
