NYIGF’s Handmade a Showcase of Eco and Artistry
by Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 5/5/2009 9:25:00 AM
White Plains, NY — The Handmade division of this summer’s New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) will abound in product offerings featuring fine craftsmanship and eco-friendly materials. Handmade runs from Saturday–Wednesday, August 15–19, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. This juried craft division, which welcomes 25 new exhibiting artists, will highlight an increased number of jewelry resources and more wearable textiles, two categories that serve retailers well for “affordable indulgences” in a tight economy. The section will also feature a wide variety of offerings made using sustainable materials. From wooden puzzles made from sustainably managed forests and wall art crafted from natural pressed botanicals to jewelry crafted from found objects and textiles produced from organic materials.
To help buyers shopping this division, the “designer-maker” and “Made in the USA” designations will be used to highlight those companies with individually handcrafted work (designer-maker) and whose work is all U.S. produced (Made in the USA).
We would love your feedback!
