Shop At Home TV to go Dark
By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 5/18/2006 2:27:00 PM
Cincinnati – Broadcasts of Shop At Home television and the ShopAtHomeTV.com will cease on June 22, parent company E.W. Scripps has announced.
Scripps said it is pulling the plug because of operating losses and the lack of a suitable buyer. The company said it will honor its contractual agreements with suppliers. Shop At Home will remain in business through June 30 to allow time for the delivery of consumer purchases made during the final days of broadcast and online shopping.
Scripps acquired Shop At Home four years ago for $285 million. It expects to record an after-tax loss in the second quarter of up to $60 million related to the operating results and closure of the Shop At Home business.
