GHTA to Address Public Policy Issues

Association to present a unified voice on industry issues

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 11/3/2008 11:11:00 AM

Grand Rapids, MI — The Gift and Home Trade Association (GHTA), the industry’s non-profit professional trade organization, has formed a Public Policy Action Group headed by George Schuetz, president and CEO of Natural Life, and is launching a new public policy initiative designed to raise awareness of issues impacting the gift and home industry. Information vital to their businesses will be shared with industry members on the GHTA’s website as a value-added service.

“The GHTA believes in the importance of becoming active in public policy,” said George Kacic, vice president of sales at Ganz and president of the GHTA. “It is the role of a trade organization to be aware of issues impacting an industry, to research those issues, and then to share those issues with its membership. We hope that by communicating and working together on this new initiative, we are better able to address and tackle public policy issues.”

The group will post updates on the site on a regular basis to ensure the most relevant news is available to both GHTA members and the industry-at-large, at all times. The site will highlight current public policy issues and reference information specific to the industry, including Safety and Regulatory Compliance and Government or State positions. It will also include public policy-related news from a variety of industry publications, as well as a white paper regarding Proposition 65.
