West Hartford, CT — Nonprofit group Aid to Artisans, which helps artisans in developing countries sell their work to the U.S. and European markets, conducted a virtual business training session through the 3-month-old embassy in Baghdad. Aid to Artisans used webcams, Adobe Connect Pro technology and an Arabic translator provided by the U.S. State Department to train nine Iraqi entrepreneurs, six of them women, some of whom are working with as many as 100 artisans. Several of these women are war widows with children.
According to Aid to Artisans, “the U.S. State Department has already told us they hope we can lead future programs.”
Aid to Artisans is in the process of launching a Virtual University that will offer all its training modules online in up to eight languages to artisans anywhere in the world.
