Decorative Accessories

Even with the slumping housing market, consumers plan to purchase accessories to freshen up their homes and let their personalities shine through, according to a Home Accents Today/HGTV Survey.
So it's key that retailers carry the right pieces to help customers find the perfect accents, as well as keep them up on the current styles. This season, we are seeing a trend toward warmer metallic tones, like copper and gold. The look is every bit as sleek as the Hollywood glam look of last year, which focused more on the mirrored and silver accents.
Woods and textured materials are being used in many collections. The black and white combination continues, but this season it's shown with yellow. And a more subtle version is a combination of gray and yellow, a duo coming off fashion runways and finding its way into the home.
Nature motifs are also popular, with owls, mushrooms and other natural elements used by many designers. Taken from the handcrafted days, these motifs are updated, but still evoke that handcrafted look. For those who are a bit more daring, animal prints are still strong, and can be used to in either a traditional or modern home. Mixing the old with the new, modern materials with natural elements, is a very “now” way to decorate.
The “eco” push has caused more vendors to be conscious of the materials they use and how their products are produced, resulting in more Green products to help put retailers and the end-consumer on the right track to helping the planet.
We would love your feedback!
