Elmwood Park, NJ – The CHA Winter Convention & Trade Show will be held at the Los Angeles Convention
Center in 2011 January 29-February 1, and will return to the Anaheim Convention Center in 2012, also January 29-February 1.
Steve Berger, CHA president and CEO, said in a statement, “Over the past several years CHA has aggressively pursued the best rates, accommodations and concessions from potential host cities in order to keep costs down, grow the show and industry, and keep our members happy.”
LA Inc., the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, will sponsor the 2010 Winter Keynote presentation and Awards Ceremony featuring Dr. Martha Beck from 7:45–9:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 24 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Prior to the Keynote address attendees will be able to watch a video highlighting sites and hot spots in Los Angeles. To purchase tickets to the Keynote address and Awards Ceremony, visit www.chashow.org. While at the show, attendees can visit the LA booth #3688 where LA Ambassador and celebrity, Candi Spelling, will sign autographs and give away prizes. Universal Studios will also send Shrek and Fiona for photo and ‘hug’ opportunities.
The CHA also announced that the Toy Industry Association (TIA) will host a pavilion for toys and youth products during CHA’s Summer Convention & Trade Show, held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center in Rosemont, IL July 27-29. The pavilion will feature manufacturers and distributors from TIA’s trade events: American International Toy Fair and Fall Toy Preview.
“This is a great way to highlight the synergies between the craft and hobby, and toy industries,” said Berger. The collaboration also marks the launch of a new cross-industry promotional program which could expand to include enhanced retailer education and legislative outreach.
The CHA also released the recipients of the 2010 CHA Industry Awards. Winners include: Cindy Groom-Harry, CEO and owner of Craft Marketing Connections, Meritorious Award of Honor; Jane Aggers, CEO of Hancock Fabrics, Industry Achievement Award; and Adolfo “Pepe” Piperno, president/owner of Sbars Inc. and founder of the Domenica Foundation, Special Recognition Award. The awards ceremony will be held Sunday, January 24 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
