LA Mart to Highlight Hollywood Themes
New for the January market, each floor at the L.A. Mart will be themed around a popular movie. The movie will play on a flat screen in the elevator lobby with the soundtrack overhead. Between 2–4 p.m. each day, the lobby will become a mini-party with themed food and drink. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 2–4 p.m., additional entertainment will be provided. On Friday during late night shopping, 6–8 p.m., there will be additional catering on each floor. The L.A. Mart Gift & Home Market will run January 13–19, 2009, with temporaries from January 16-19. Special events include Power Lunch Seminar Merchandise Like A Pro presented by Michelle Teele, owner of Bird’s Eye View, at noon on Friday, January 16, and a number of showroom will host their own special events.
Greater Philadelphia Expo Centerto Host Philly Gift Show
The Philadelphia Gift Show, run by Urban Expositions, relocates to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Oaks, PA, January 17–20, 2009. Free seminars will include Is Retailing Success Really Possible Today? Let's Count the Ways!, Gift Baskets: Spring into Sales Now, Strategies and Tactics for Business Success, Windows That Work and Increasing Revenue With a New Location: An Online Location. Also look for the show party and goody bag giveaway.
Michigan Gift Shows Set March and April Dates
Regional shows will return in Michigan: The Lansing Gift Show returns March 8-10, 2009 at the Lansing Center in Lansing, MI. The show, which was formed in the wake of Northville’s permanent showrooms closing in 2005, includes the Michigan Retailers Assn. Education Conference held in conjunction with the mart on Tuesday, March 10th. Cash and carry merchandise will be available. The Northern Michigan Gift & Souvenir Show returns to the Boyne Highlands Golf and Ski Resort in Harbor Springs, MI, April 19–21, 2009. Catering to summer resort businesses, the show’s booths are intertwined throughout the resort’s day ski lodge and involve elaborate displays which resemble actual gift shops. Admission is free to all retailers, and Sunday and Monday nights feature cocktail parties with live entertainment.
AmericasMart's Building 2 West Wing Features New Sections and Stylish Settings
The January 2009 debut of Building 2 West Wing at AmericasMart Atlanta will include the new Living.Outdoor/Indoor The Gardens section, featuring 170,000 square feet of product on the Tuscan-inspired Floor 9 and New Orleans Garden-themed Floor 10, which are connected by a two-story waterfall. Gourmet/Housewares showcases 140,000 square feet of product, including Salem Baking, Stonewall Kitchen, Viking, All Clad, Riedel, Nordicware, Le Creuset and more, plus a Food Network-inspired demo kitchen with Viking appliances, flat screen TVs and a 360-degree view of the open-air showrooms for celebrity chef appearances and cooking demonstrations.
