Riverside, NJ – Gift book publisher Andrews McMeel Publishing (AMP) is giving up its sales force of independent rep groups and turning trade sales over to Simon & Schuster as of January 2010, according to publishing industry e-newsletter Publisher’s Lunch. Simon & Schuster has handled physical distribution for AMP for almost a decade, Andrews McMeel will continue to handle sales to the gift trade and sell its calendar line (except to independent bookstores).
President Hugh Andrews said in the announcement, "We have had a long and fruitful relationship with our independent commissioned sales representatives, which we appreciate. This transition reflects not only a changing bookselling environment, but also allows us to concentrate on a core strength for us: recognizing and celebrating remarkable creative talent, providing content, and delivering it to the public through a variety of distribution channels."
We would love your feedback!
