Brainy Baby Licenses for Mary Meyer, American Greetings

New York — The Brainy Baby Co., a children's multimedia toy and video producer, signed exclusive licensing agreements with Mary Meyer and American Greetings. The licensees will produce upscale educational plush toys and infant/toddler party supplies, respectively.
The Mary Meyer line will launch by February 2008, though it could debut as early as October 2007, according to Jeffrey Quinn, executive vice president of sales & marketing for Brainy Baby. The American Greetings line will launch in fall 2008.
"The market for developmental toys is getting very crowded right now," said Quinn. "Retailers are actually doing a lot of their own sourcing and development overseas, and creating their own store brands, so the manufacturers over here really have to be creative when they're coming out with new products, especially if you're not going to the mass market with them."
