Target Donates $2 Million in Decorated Trees

Alexandria, VA — Target Stores will donate more than 4,500 decorated Christmas trees on December 22. The $2 million worth of trees will be distributed through local United Ways nationwide.
This is the 16th year that Minneapolis-based Target donated trees to local nonprofit agencies and needy families. Last year’s trees were distributed to homeless shelters, an AIDS taskforce and a center for the prevention of child abuse as well as to families affected by everything from Katrina to fire. "As we lugged the six-foot tree upstairs to a tiny apartment, three kids gathered around and squealed with delight as the lights went on," Joseph P. Nirschl, chair and chief volunteer officer for United Way of Central Jersey, said of one of last year’s recipients.
We would love your feedback!
