The Intl. Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Assn. (LIMA) New York was honored for its financial support of the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) at the foundation’s Grants Award Reception in New York. LIMA raised $1.93 million for CBTF since 2004, and has pledged to raise a total of $3 million by 2010. CBTF also acknowledged three individual LIMA Charity Committee members: Leigh Anne Brodsky, president, Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products; Cheryl Stoebenau, president, CAS Marketing; and Robert Strand, vice president of licensing, Jarden Outdoor Solutions.
Licensing firm Creative Properties, Ridgewood, NJ, signed an agreement with pop artist Peter Mars to represent his work in new lines of product featuring his existing and future paintings. In the first collaboration deal arranged by Creative Properties, Mars was named an official artist of Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. Mars will be granted access to over 60,000 images of Elvis from the Graceland Archives and will create a new series of Elvis-inspired paintings to be sold through galleries and to appear on select officially licensed Elvis merchandise. Creative Properties is seeking new partnerships with global brands to create exclusive new lines of fine art featuring Mars’ interpretation of a company’s trademarks, characters or brands, to be sold through galleries. They will also be his representative when companies or individuals commission his artwork for corporate collections or advertising and to commemorate special events and anniversaries. Product categories for high-end, worldwide distribution might include fashion and accessories and home decor.
Licensing agency Montclair, NJ–based Bradford Licensing LLC partnered with UK design firm Juicy Lucy to build and manage the Juicy Lucy licensing program in North America. Juicy Lucy Designs offers a collection of magical fairies and "magic sayings". Bradford will split the Juicy Lucy brand into three collections: Juicy Lucy Classic, Juicy Lucy Cheeky, and Juicy Lucy Baby. The first will focus mostly on the gift and stationery markets, targeting women of all ages; the second will aim at younger and edgier demographics; and the baby collection will be tailored to baby/toddler apparel, nursery decor, and accessories.
Tarrytown, NY–based Christopher Radko brand of handmade European glass ornaments reached an exclusive licensing agreement with Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum www.borail.org to produce 12 exclusive train-themed ornaments. Limited to 2009, the styles will debut in January 2009 during the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. Sizes range from 4½”–5¾” in length and will retail for approximately $65 each.
