IBISWorld: Easter Spending to Drop
By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 3/24/2009 7:20:00 AM
Los Angeles — Consumer spending on Easter clothing, candy, flowers, decorations, food and greeting cards is expected to fall 8 percent, according to research firm IBISWorld. Total sales are expected to fall from $14.8 billion in 2008 to $13.6 billion. Despite the New York Times’ report that Americans are consuming more candy in response to the recession, IBISWorld predicts that Easter candy sales will be particularly hard hit: sales are forecast to reach only $1.77 billion, down 10.2 percent.
