TRU Taps Andres Javes for Southeast Asia, Greater China

WAYNE, NJ - Toys"R"Us Inc. (TRU) has appointed Andre Javes as managing director, Toys"R"Us, Southeast Asia and Greater China.

In his new role, Javes will oversee all operations and business activities for the company's wholly owned stores in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand in addition to providing oversight for the company's licensed stores in the Philippines and Macau, including more than 2,500 employees in the region. He reports to Monika Merz, president, Toys"R"Us, Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining TRU, Javes served as managing director, Toys"R"Us, Australia. A seasoned executive with more than 30 years of retail experience, Javes first joined TRU in 2008 as general merchandise manager with responsibility for toy and juvenile products merchandising. Before his appointment as managing director, Toys"R"Us, Australia in 2013, he also served as CEO at Anaconda Group Pty. from 2009 to 2012, where he managed a retail chain of camping, outdoor and adventure gear stores across Australia.

Earlier in his career, Javes also worked at Kmart as divisional merchandise manager for toy and outdoor products in Australia and New Zealand. He also served as group merchandise manager for Grocery at Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd. He holds a Certificate of Management from Deakin University Australia.
