Big 'deal' at Toys 'R' US

Toys “R” Us (TRU) is running an in-store promotion around the popular NBC game show Deal or No Deal in all TRU stores across the country. Through October 28, customers can play different version of the game show in electronic, board game or card game form. Among the Deal or No Deal licensees being featured are: Pressman, Imagination, Irwin Toy and Cardinal Industries.

Not-So-Spooky Sales

Consumers are not so scared of shopping this holiday season, particularly when it comes to Halloween, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF). The NRF recently reported that Halloween-related spending is nearing $5 billion annually due to an increase in celebrations with friends and families. As a result, consumers are expected to spend $4.96 billion this Halloween on costumes, candies and other novelty products.

Hasbro teams with Disney resorts

Hasbro will collaborate with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts on a program featuring Playskool-branded tips and other information for parents of toddlers and preschool-age children who visit any of Disney's parks and resorts.

Learning Resources buys EI

In a deal between educational toy makers worth $24.2 million, Learning Resources announced plans to acquire Educational Insights Inc. The purchase is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
