By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 12/22/2009 7:52:00 AM

Benjamin Bunny and other Beatrix Potter characters will star in an upcoming Chorion seriesLONDON—Chorion is teaming with Beatrix Potter rights holder Frederick Warne & Co. for new animated television programming based on Potter’s characters.

The new series, built around children’s literary icons such as Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck, Benjamin Bunny and Mr. Jeremy Fisher, will be designed international distribution. A target timeframe for the series’ debut was not announced.

“We are looking forward to making a new TV series of Beatrix Potter’s characters,” said Waheed Alli, Chorion’s chairman. “Our aim will be to introduce Beatrix Potter to a new generation of children and make her characters as loved today as they have been in the past.”

Together with Chorion’s licensing arm, The Copyrights Group, Frederick Warne will continue to develop the licensing and merchandise program for Beatrix Potter’s characters. Frederick Warne will retain all publishing rights to the Beatrix Potter works.

The last animated series based on Potter’s characters, The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends, was distributed by BBC Worldwide in the mid-1990s.
