Little Tikes pulls 1.6M role-play toys

WASHINGTON—Little Tikes is recalling approximately 1.6 million role-play Workshops Sets and Trucks sold over the past 15 years due to a choking hazard.

The recalled workshop sets and trucks have oversized, plastic toy nails that can pose a choking hazard to young children, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Little Tikes has received one report of an 11-month-old boy from Goose Creek, S.C., who choked when a toy nail become forcefully lodged in his throat. The child was hospitalized and made a full recovery.

The oversized, plastic toy nail used in the several sets involved in the recall is approximately 3¼ inches long by 1¼ inches in diameter and comes in red or blue colors. It has a large round head; about 1¼ inches below the head is a plastic ridge, slightly smaller than the nail head and about 1 inch in diameter.

The names, model numbers and UPC code of the products included in this recall are:

• Electronic Project Workshop, Model no. 0914; UPC: 0-50743-00914-3, sold from March 1994 through December 2003;

• Little HandiWorker Workhorse, Model no. 0920 /612237; UPC 0-50743-10920-1 / UPC 0-50743-61223-7; sold from March 1999 through June 2009;

• Home Improvements 2-Sided Workshop, Model no. 4146; UPC 0-50743-04146-4; sold from February 2001 through January 2009;

• Swirlin' Sawdust Workshop, Model no. 440Z; UPC 0-50743-38540-7; sold from April 2004 through November 2008;

• Black Pickup Truck with Tools, Model no. 4028; UPC 0-50743-04028-3; sold from March 2000 through April 2009.

The recalled toys were sold by various web sites, including www.littletikes.com, and mass merchants nationwide from March 1994 through June 2009 for between $25 and $100.

The products were made in the United States and China.
