Briarpatch’s co-founder passes

MILBURN,N.J.—Martine Redman Donofrio, co-founder of Briarpatch, died on April 4. She was 61.
Known as Marty to her friends, Donofrio helped develop board games, puzzles and card games while her husband, John Donofrio, managed Briarpatch's business. Today, the game maker they built is known for its I Spy Memory Game and related products, Thomas the Tank Engine games, as well as board, card and travel game based on popular children’s properties like Disney's Pooh and Princesses, That's So Raven and Spider-Man.
In addition to her responsibilities at Briarpatch, Donofrio served on the board of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association until she retired several years ago to pursue personal interests.
In her free time, she was a member of the Millburn Planning Board, where she was an advocate for environmental awareness and worked to promote legislation that protected the environment. She also served on the Millburn Environmental Commission, Great Swamp Watershed Conservancy and the Rahway River Association.
She is survived by her husband, and by two daughters, Valerie and Rachel.
Donofrio's family will receive relatives and friends atthe Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home,2122 Millburn Ave,Maplewood,N.J., on Monday, April 9,7 p.m.-9 p.m.,and Tuesday, April 10, from2 p.m.–4 p.m.and7 p.m.–9 p.m..
Services will be at St. Georges Episcopal Church, 550 Ridgewood Rd. , Maplewood , N.J. , on Wednesday, April 11, 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Morris Land Conservancy,19 Boonton Avenue, Boonton, N.J., 07005, would be appreciated by the Donofrio family and Briarpatch.
