LeapFrog recalls Didj recharger unit

WASHINGTON—LeapFrog Enterprises is recalling 35,000 units of the recharging station for its Didj game system because their rechargeable batteries pose a burn hazard.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the rechargeable batteries included with the Recharging Station can overheat if the gaming system is placed into the recharging base upside down, posing a burn hazard to consumers. LeapFrog has received 12 reports of the rechargeable batteries overheating, including one report of a minor hand burn.
Consumers can continue using the game's supplied AC adapter connected directly to the Didj handheld.
The Recharging Station comes with two rechargeable batteries, an AC adapter and a recharging base. The recharging base is white with a green indicator light on the bottom. The Recharging Station for Didj was has item number 30676 on the bottom of the recharging base, as well as on its packaging.
The product was sold at department stores and toy stores nationwide, at www.leapfrog.com and other online retailers from July 2008 through October 2008 for about $35. They were made in China.
