Techno Source gets 'Smarter'

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 8/8/2007 8:55:00 AM

NEW YORK—Techno Source has joined the licensee roster for Mark Burnett Productions’ Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? in a deal that will result in electronic handheld and tabletop games based on the TV game show.

The deal, brokered by licensing agency Brand Central, gives Techno Source exclusive rights for those game categories in the United States and Canada. The first products are expected to hit stores this October.

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? has been an instant success and we are excited about the opportunity to combine our expertise in electronic gaming with this A+ quiz-show concept,” said Eric Levin, Techno Source’s executive vice president. “The property has the all the aspects needed to create a winning product—from fun-filled trivia to family-friendly appeal—and we expect the games to be a long-standing hit with consumers.”

The game show, which debuted on Fox earlier this year, was the network’s highest-rated series premiere in 13 years, according to the network. Hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, the show measures adults’ lack of knowledge as revealed by how much they have forgotten since elementary school.
