Spin Master plans Tech Deck virtual skate park

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 3/20/2008 8:18:00 AM

Spin MasterLOS ANGELES—Spin Master will launch a skateboarding-themed massively multiplayer online game this summer based on its Tech Deck fingerboard brand.

Dubbed "Tech Deck Live," the virtual world will allow players to create their own custom skater, outfit themselves with the latest gear, and ride Tech Deck skateboards throughout a sprawling skatepark and other interactive environments. Inside the world, players will also be able to meet to compete, freestyle skate, chat with others, trade stuff, upgrade gear, play mini-games and ride their way up to the site’s ultimate challenge, being picked to join a pro skate team.

"We're designing Tech Deck Live to combine the game play of traditional action sports games with all the player interaction and community features of the latest online games," said Robert Bryant, the site’s senior producer.

Tech Deck Live will be free to play, but paid monthly subscribers will be able to access premium content.

The site is being created by Spin Master’s wholly owned interactive entertainment subsidiary, Spin Master Studios Inc.
