Mega grabs 'Gabba!'

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 10/22/2008 6:47:00 AM

MONTREAL—Mega Brands has signed an international licensing deal for construction toys based on the preschool television series Yo Gabba Gabba!

Under its multi-year agreement with series producer W!ldbrain, Mega Brands has the rights to develop an assortment of construction sets, including buildable playsets based on the characters and storylines of the TV series. Its Yo Gabba Gabba! toys will launch worldwide in fall of 2009.

"We are thrilled that Mega Brands … is bringing the Yo Gabba Gabba! universe to life through construction toys that will encourage parents and children to create together," said Michael Polis, W!ldbrain’s chief marketing officer.

Yo Gabba Gabba! airs weekday mornings on Nickeldoeon in the U.S. It also airs in several international territories, including Australia, Canada, Israel, Latin America, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.K.

The magazine-format series infuses retro-style and beat-driven music to teach simple life lessons through a world of puppet characters who play and dance as soon as they hear the magic words, "yo gabba gabba!"
