BURBANK, Calif. and TEMPE, Ariz.—McFarlane Toys is now the master toy licensee for Tim Burton’s latest stop-motion, animated feature film, “Corpse Bride,” which is scheduled for release by Warner Bros. Pictures in this fall. This is the third in a wave of new licensing agreements for the toy company, the first two being with Fox Licensing & Merchandising for “The Simpsons” and with Sony Consumer for the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
McFarlane Toys will produce a full product line inspired by "Corpse Bride," including collectible action figures, bendable figures, PVC and plush toys. Additionally, this agreement marks the first time McFarlane Toys has expanded its categories to include fashion dolls, bobbleheads, novelties and gifts such as candles, glassware mugs, pewter pieces and ornaments. Retailer-specific programs will be announced this spring.
The new Simpsons action figures will be released this fall in two separate multi-figure boxed sets with a full product line hitting shelves in 2006. The Simpsons license is currently held by Playmates Toys, Costa Mesa, Calif., which has been creating action figures and playsets since 2000.
The figures based on “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” are scheduled to be released later this year.
