Easy-Bake Oven recalled, again

WASHINGTON—Hasbro, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling approximately 1 million Easy-Bake Ovens after a report of a serious burn that required a partial finger amputation to a 5-year-old girl. It's the toy's second recall this year.
Since February—when it first announced the recall of the same toy oven—Hasbro has received 249 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven's front opening, including 77 reports of burns, 16 of which were second or third-degree. The Easy-Bake Oven has a front opening into which young children can insert their fingers, causing them to potentially get caught, posing entrapment and burn hazards.
The recalled toys were sold at various retailers nationwide between May 2006 and July 2007, at approximately $25 per unit. It is purple and pink, and resembles a kitchen range with four burners on top and a front-loading oven. Model number 65808 is printed on the back of the oven. Also included in the recall is any unit with the retrofit kit. Ovens sold before May 2006 are not included in this recall.
The commission said that caregivers should immediately take the recalled ovens away from children, and call Easy-Bake at (800) 601-8418 for instructions on how to return the oven in exchange for a voucher towards the purchase of another Hasbro product.
In Feburary of this year, Hasbro recalled approximately 985,000 units of the same toy because of the same concerns over possible entrapment and burn hazards.
