HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Bandai Entertainment, the video distribution arm of Bandai Co. Ltd., Japan's largest toymaker, will launch an animé-style feature film Escaflowne in January in select U.S. and Canadian cities.
Based on the animated series The Vision of Escaflowne that previously aired in the U.S. on the Fox Kids Network, Escaflowne will reach theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Vancouver, Canada on Jan. 25, 2001, followed by a national roll-out during February. The film follows the adventures of a teenage girl taken from modern-Earth and thrust into a fantasy world of swords and sorcery.
Bandai currently offers three action figures from the property: 4.5-inch versions of Hitomi and Van, and a 7-inch Mechanical Suit Escaflowne.
