LOS ANGELES — Jim Henson's Muppets are Starbucks-bound thanks to a deal to feature the children's characters as finger puppets sold exclusively at the coffee house chain.
Bensussen, Deutsch & Associates is producing the Muppet finger puppets, scheduled for release this week to Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada. The first assortment will include characters Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, and Beaker. International territories will begin offering the toys starting this summer and fall. Additional assortments featuring other Muppet characters will follow.
"We are thrilled to bring these unparalleled icons to the uber-franchise of coffee houses," said Betts FitzGerald, The Jim Henson Co.'s senior vice president, licensing.
Separately, Henson has licensed Monaco Baking to produce a Muppets cookies for sale in the U.S. and Canada.
