Collectible doll maker Charisma Brands heads to the South Pacific for Yana, its new Malaysian doll dressed in a traditional Sabah costume of the type worn in the northern portion of the island of Borneo. Her outfit is the result of hours of linangkit embroidery and the application of hundreds of multicolor beads, jewels and metal accents on her headdress, including more than 360 beads and metal bead accents in each headpiece, and another nearly 500 beads and jewels adorning her belt, shoes and collar. Featuring a weighted, 22-inch cloth body with vinyl head, arms, and hands, the doll is baby-powder scented.

Classic preschool play goes bilingual in Chicco USA's Magic Window Talking Farm. The playset features an LCD display that brings the farm animals to life through animation, but more importantly offers three modes of play—naming, matching and answering—through which kids ages 12 months and up learn numbers, colors, animal names and sounds in both in English and Spanish while watching and interacting with the animals on the farm.www.chicco.com

Kidding Around

Kids products that combine high play value and a design sensibility that blends with mom and dad's house are sure winners for specialty shops, who can market themselves as an alternative to cheap plastic imports and their problematic safety records.

EcoGreen

Green products have become more of a staple now. The products are not only good for the environment, today's collections also boast great design.

Just for Fun

Vendors' sense of fun was evident this summer with many offering light-hearted and fun accessories for the home and for the self.
