This week Playthings.com features new products from Curious Toys, RC2, SoftSounds Books, Uncle Milton,  KidzMouse Keys and Jumping Skateboard.

& Getting Buggy
BugBONZ, Curious Toys, New York , is the newest addition to the BONZ line of construction toys.

For the first time BONZ is specifically designed and manufactured for pre-school aged children (ages 2 and up). There are 21 insecty, beetly, buggy, hard plastic pieces that interconnect for little hands. The new construction set allows small children to create a new take on ladybugs, butterflies, caterpillars, beetles and other bugs. They are compatible with other BONZ sets for unending imaginary play. SRP is $19.99.

RC2 Take Along Bob
Take Along Bob the Builder Playsets, RC2,Oakbrook,Ill., allows preschoolers to recreate their favorite Bob the Builder adventures. When closed, the playsets (shaped like different tools) offer children role play possibilities. When opened, each “tool” invites young builders to “step inside” a Bob the Builder construction site featuring cause and effect action.

The Jackhammer Portable Playset, shaped like a real jackhammer when closed, is an interactive set that opens to reveal five roadway repair activities. Roadway pieces pop-up with a simple touch of a button. Bob swings into action to help with the repair. >

& SoftSounds Books

Featuring a shallow “tide” pool, realistic-looking tropical plants, hideaway cave and a vented see-thru lid, everything is included to keep hermit crabs healthy and happy.

Designed for easy cleaning, the Hermit Crab Cove includes a decoration kit to allow kids to personalize their crabs’ shells. From googly eyes to a variety of cool stickers, the decorating possibilities are as endless. Hermit crabs are not included with the product. An order form is included which allows consumers to receive live hermit crabs by mail. >

Mickey keyboard
The new KidzMouse Keys, Burlingame , Calif. , keyboard is decorated with Mickey Mouse and his friends Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck. Featuring standard-sized buttons that are rounded to fit a child’s hand, the QWERTY device is limited to just 67 keys (no function keys, pause/break or other auxiliary controls) so as not to confuse the learner.
KidzMouse Keys are color-coded to make navigation easy. For example, enter and arrow keys are a different color from letter keys; vowels are different from consonants. A special ledge allows kids to put their favorite things on the keyboard as they work, such as an MP3 player, computer camera, or favorite toy. SRP is $29.

Jumping Skateboard
The Jumping Skateboard, Onyx Sales & Distribution,Placentia,Calif., is a new hybrid board that is equally comfortable on or off road. This versatile board with its patented dampening system allows for soft landings to make it suitable for the tricks on asphalt, ramps and stairs, blazing new trails off-road. The board is made of heavy duty high impact deck and die-cast aluminum construction leaf and spring suspension with extra strong trucks. There is an adjustable height deck that sits between 8.25 inches and 7.5 inches off the ground, with a heavy duty spring-and-cantilever suspension system. The tension in the shocks is adjustable.

The detachable tether is a training tool for all ages. It’s easier for younger riders in achieving balance, landing jumps and mastering those difficult tricks. The fully adjustable tether gives the rider additional stability and ability to lift the board to hop of objects. The Jumping Skateboard has an SRP of $99.00. >
