Toysmith acquires Broadway Toys

By Tina Benitez -- Gifts and Dec, 1/2/2007 12:08:00 PM

AUBURN , Wash. —The Toysmith Group has acquired the rights to market and distribute the Broadway Toys line throughout North America .

Broadway Toys' line includes role-play hand tool and power tool sets, Toro brand garden power tool sets, Quickie brand housekeeping toys and My First Gardening sets for kids.

Bill Bordegon, national sale manager for Toysmith tells Playthings that the company is looking at the long-term benefits of the acquisition of Broadway Toys. "It's great pretend play," he says. "They have [toy] hand tools, power tools, garden and classic pretend play that's a perfect alignment for Toysmith."

Bordegon adds that the acquisition has been in the works since last year, and the company can now finally formulate a distribution plan for the products, which will be pricer than average Toysmith items, in 2007. Product is scheduled for launch by fall or end of year with possible previews at next month's Toy Fair.

The 25-year-old Toysmith’s current offerings include novelty items, DaMert puzzles, Tangent bubbles, OzWest foam fliers, Bella Bistro cooking toys, B.C. Bones activity kits, 3-D wood puzzles, Whirlwind Pinwheels, hook-and-loop target games in the Packerland line, X-stream IWA foam gliders and the Marvin’s Magic line. The company sells its products through specialty toy retailers, the education market, craft and hobby, museums, zoos, aquariums, national parks, attractions, theme parks, gift stores, specialty catalogs and Internet retailers.
