LAS VEGAS—eBay today introduced two new destinations, MyCollectibles and Collector’s Corner to help collectors showcase, discover and connect with other collectors. The announcement was made during the fourth annual eBay Collectibles Summit, which is being held prior to the eBay Live! Community conference.
“Collecting has long been a very individual pursuit,” says Laurence Toney, director, eBay Collectibles. “The introduction of MyCollectibles and Collector’s Corner changes that dynamic by leveraging the Internet to create a ‘social collecting’ experience for millions of collectors in the eBay Community.”
MyCollectibles (http://www.ebay.com/mycollectibles), provided by Kaboodle, allows eBay members to connect with one another while showcasing, comparing and reviewing their favorite collections. Entire collections or just select items can be displayed, and items purchased on eBay.com can be added with a few clicks. Kaboodle’s technology allows members to simply publish information and upload images of their favorite item or collections, with others able to review, comment or talk with the collection owner via message board.
Collector’s Corner (http://www.ebay.com/collectorscorner), provided by Mpire, is a central hub for collectors to interact and learn what’s happening in the world of collecting, including information on grading, authenticating, writing reviews, buyer’s guides, and how to sell on eBay. The site also features recent sales trends and pop culture comparisons on hot topics, such as the average price of items related to NBA basketball stars.
