Toy vets join DreamWorks

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 10/3/2008 1:12:00 PM

GLENDALE, Calif.—DreamWorks Animation’s consumer products division has tapped Brad Woods and Chris Hewish—two toy business veterans—for licensing posts.

Brad Woods is now head of domestic licensing. Chris Hewish has been appointed head of global interactive licensing. Woods and Hewish will be responsible for working with licensing partners in their respective areas to create products and content based on DreamWorks Animation brands. Both will report to Kerry Phelan, Dreamworks Animation's head of worldwide consumer products.

Before joining DreamWorks Animation, Brad Woods was director of global licensing at Warner Bros., where he directed and negotiated the global licensing and sales efforts for the studio’s portfolio of brands, including Superman, Batman and Harry Potter. Previously, he was senior director of marketing for the El Segundo firm Affinity Inc. and senior brand manager of entertainment marketing for Mattel, where he managed the global marketing efforts for the Batman, He-Man and Justice League brands.

Chris Hewish most recently served as lead game designer at Luxoflux. Previously, he was lead game designer, a creative executive and an executive producer for the gaming company Activision Blizzard. He began his career in the tabletop games industry at Games Workshop before moving into video games as a game designer for MicroProse.
