ASTRA show sold out

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 3/8/2010 8:02:00 AM

CHICAGO—Exhibitor space at this June’s ASTRA’s Marketplace & Academy is sold out, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association announced today.

“It’s full speed ahead this year, and we’re way ahead of projections,” said Kathleen McHugh, ASTRA’s president. “Every square inch of exhibit space is spoken for, and that means all the regular booths, all the half-booths we feature to help small start-ups bring their creative new specialty product to market, and all the table-top exhibits in our unique inventor incubator. We’re also full up on products to be used at our hands-on Kits, Kits, Kits workshop and at our play-with-the-inventor Game Night.”

McHugh advises retailers interested in signing up for any of the event's limited-registration events to do so soon.

“We still have plenty of room for any and all retailers who want to find great new product, get show-only discounts, and learn from the best in the business. But things are moving faster than usual this year, so my recommendation is to get your spot now,” she said.

ASTRA’s Marketplace & Academy will be held in Providence, R.I., from June 13 to 16, 2010.

Kids products that combine high play value and a design sensibility that blends with mom and dad's house are sure winners for specialty shops, who can market themselves as an alternative to cheap plastic imports and their problematic safety records.
