Sferra Acquires Brahms Mount

EDISON, NJ and NEW YORK – Sferra Fine Linens, LLC has acquired Brahms Mills, an American textile, manufacturing mill and retail store, effective December 4, 2015.Sferra logo 2

Located in Monmouth and Freeport, ME, the company was established in 1983 by local Maine artisans Claudia Brahms and Noel Mount utilizing antique shuttle looms to craft signature American textiles with all-natural cotton, linen and wool fibers. The core products included throws, blankets and linen towels. Currently, it is the only mill weaving linen in North America. In addition to the Brahms Mount collection, the firm creates and weaves custom and private label programs for retailers across the U.S., and operates a retail shop across from the world-renowned L.L. Bean shop in Freeport, ME.

According to Steve Schneider, president of Sferra, Brahms Mount will continue to develop its American-made collection. “Our goal is to align the two companies as two distinct brands, and by so doing, we offer both respective retail customer bases more products which will resonate with our shared luxury consumer,” he said.

David Kaufman, previous owner and president of Brahms Mount will remain with the company as director of business development.

”Sferra is known for making the finest Italian-made linens. Brahms Mount is known for American-made luxury. We share the same core customers as Sferra and we value the same quality attributes of pure, natural materials and artisanal craftsmanship—yet we offer something uniquely different to their mix of products. We feel Brahms Mount is a wonderful complement to their Italian-made line, and we’re honored to join the Sferra family of luxury linens.”
